Property taxes are the single greatest financial burden we carry living in the City of Madison and the County of Dane.
Our property taxes this year will exceed what we pay for Food, Health Insurance, Utilities, Homeowner’s Insurance, Car Insurance, Vehicle Registrations, Clothing, Dental, Household Maintenance or Repair, Travel, Automotive Repair individually or to a great extent combined and that includes replacement of the furnace to our home which cost $7,730.00 the Day After Christmas when the old furnace failed and had to be condemned. That furnace cost less than the property taxes for one year in the home in which it has been installed.
Property taxes at this level are crushing. Insult follows injury as administrators in the various Taxing Jurisdictions declare budget deficits which presage yet additional tax increases.
